Secrets

This section is a quick reference guide to the various secrets from the Mega Man X games. Click on one of the pictures below to jump down to that game's secret list.

Mega Man X Mega Man X2 Mega Man X3 Mega Man X4 Mega Man X5

Mega Man X

Hadouken
Mega Man X can obtain the hidden Hadouken enhancement, which destroys enemies in one hit. To get it, you must have all 8 hearts, 4 sub-tanks, and armor upgrades. Go through Armord Armadillo's stage four or five times; each time you go through, you must have full health and weapon energy by the end, and you must jump off the last cart so you can climb the wall above the boss door. The fourth or fifth time you go through, you should see a capsule on the cliff, which will give you the enhancement. To execute the fireball, do a quarter-roll forward on the controller then press the fire button, just like in Street Fighter. (You need full life to use it).

Level Effects
When you beat certain bosses, it affects certain levels. Here's the list:
Beat Storm Eagle: The electricity is out at Spark Mandrill's. You'll also see debris from Eagle's ship at the start of Mandrill's level.
Beat Spark Mandrill: The electricity is out in his stage, but with no debris.
Beat Chill Penguin: Flame Mammoth's stage is covered in frost; the lava is ice, and it can't hurt you anymore.
Beat Launch Octopus: There is flooding in Sting Chameleon's stage, especially in the area below the falling rock corridor.

Flame... Pig?!
This is a neat trick: You can use the B. Cutter on a couple bosses besides Sting Chameleon. Hit Launch Octopus with several B. cutters to cut off hi major arms. Even better, you can use the B. Cutter on Flame Mammoth, and if you hit him a few times, you'll cut off his nose! I call him flame pig because it makes his truncated nose look like a pig snout.

Mega Man X2

Shoryuken
In X2, X can get Ken's flaming Dragon Punch. Go to the third X-Hunter Level with all the hearts, sub-tanks, and armor upgrades (Zero Parts are optional). After the moving platform area, climb the hard to reach upper ladder, either by using the moving platform or by using the C. Hunter on one of the bats. Make you way through the spike areas, then slide down the left hand wall until you enter a secret room. If you have full life when you go in, you'll see a capsule. To execute it, perform a dragon punch motion, then press the fire button. (You need full life to use it).

Zero Cameo
If you beat the game without any armor, you can see Zero on the highway when X is driving home. So far, the only aparamteres I've used are all 8 hearts, all 4 sub-tanks, and all 3 Zero parts, but no armor upgrades, so I'm going to try and do some experimentation with the parameters, and let ya'll know later!

Mega Man X3

Gold Armor
In X3, besides the normal armor upgrades, X can get special chips to further enhance his armor. However, he can only get one chip per game. So, instead of another Street Fighter move, Capcom made a secret capsule that gives X a chip with all four super upgardes! Get all the hearts, sub-tanks, Ride Armor pieces, and regular armor upgrades, but no chips (purple capsules). In the first Doppler level, after the mid-boss, go through the big room, and after you drop down a level to where the spike balls drop from the ceiling, slide down the left side of the first pit, before the spike balls. If you have full life, you'll see a capsule in the hidden room, and you'll get all four chips in one.

Zero's Beam Sabre
X can get Zero's Beam Sabre, the ultimate weapon! To get it, you must destroy Vile when you fight him in the factory. This can be done by using Ray Splasher or Spinning Blade on him. Then, the second Doppler level will not be totalled, and you'll fight a mid-boss after what become the water area (remember that door that led to a big room with nothing?). You can bring Zero into taht room, and when the mini-boss is there, Zero can fight him. Beat the mini-boss with Zero, and you'll get his sword. It doesn't matter what upgrades X has, but if he has the arm cannon, he sends out an energy wave with the slash. To use it, charge up to a new green color, and fire the normal energy blast(s). Press the fire button again to slash. (You don't need full life). The slash takes off half a boss's life and kills all normal enemies; the energy wave takes of two-thirds a boss's life.

Special Weapon Effects
Each of the eight special weapons has it's own unique special effect.
Acid Burst: 95% of time, gives weapon energy when it destroys a bot. Also, can be fired straight up or down (hold up or down when firing).
Parasitic Bomb: Makes certain enemies floating, robot-seeking mines.
Triad Thunder: Continue rapidly pressing the fire button when the field is out to flip it around several times, maintaining the prtective field.
Spinning Blade: The charged up shot can be revolved around X like a yo-yo doing around the world by pressing up or down while the "saw" blade is out.
Ray Splasher: Probably the most powerful weapon. If you do it right, you can hit eneimes with the charged shot's light bulb, which is just kind of funny, to hit someone with a big light bulb.
Gravity Well: It has the largest attack radius, and it moves the big block in Volt Catfish's stage.
Frost Shield: 95% of the time, it yields life energy when it kills a bot. It can be enhanced underwater to make huge spikes (uncharged) and an X-sized ice block charged.
Tornado Fang: The charged form can be used to cling to walls (though it consumes a lot of energy).

Mega Man X4

Ultimate Armor
Like X3, X4 has a secret armor upgrade that affects the whole armor. X's ultimate armor has all the abilities of the Nova Armor (his regular upgrades) with the Plasma Shot, but with a noted extra feature: unlimited Nova Strikes. To access it, input the following code at the player select screen with the cursor on X:
(Playstation) - Circle, Circle, left 6 times, then hold L1 + R2 and press Start
(Saturn) - B, B, left 6 times, hold L and R, press start.
X will have a purplish color instead of the normal blue. Go to any capsule, and you should get a special message from Dr. Light, and then you'll get the Ultimate Armor.

Dark Zero
Zero can get black armor, similar to the clone from X2. It doesn't do anything, but it looks cool. Input the following code at the player select:
(Playstation) - Hold R1 and press Right 6 times. Release R1, then hold Circle and press Start (Saturn) - Hold R, press right six times, release R, press and hold B, and press start.

Mega Man X5

Ultimate Armor Pt. 2
X can get the Ultimate Armor again in X5. It has the same abilities from X4 except for the Energy Saver (head part from X4). To get it, either put in the code at the player select screen (cursor on X):
Press Up twice, then Down nine times
You can also get it by going to the third Final Zone stage (Zero helmet stage after the colony crashes or is destroyed). Go in as unarmored X. When you see a moving platform that doesn't actually move, floating over a narrow pit, slide down the right wall and you should find a capsule.

Dark Zero Pt. 2
Zero also gets the Dark Armor like in X4, but with significant bonuses this time. He take less damage, and his saber is stronger and can destroy the Sigma Virus and enemy energy shots. Put in the code with eth cursor on Zero:
Down twice, Up nine times
You can also get it the same way you get X's Ultimate Armor in the third Final Zone stage, just bring Zero in instead of X.

Black Zero Picture
To see a picture of Black Zero's face, with the codes for the ultimate armors, wiat 5 or so minutes after the creits end and the ranks and time appear.
