Mega Man X6

Welcome to the MegaMan X6 Section. Here, I'll be posting the latest X6 news as I get it. Capcom has officially announced that X6 will be coming out in the US in November 2001.

(8-03)
The latest is that the Capcom of Japan Rockman X6 Page is up with a story (in Japanese of course) and 13 screenshots. On the otherhand, you'll see them immediately below this paragraph (sorry if it ups the load time of this section).

Zero X Pheonix from UMMXZW has reported back from E3 with some cool nes about X6. To paraphrase, here are the three new features of the game:
Nightmare System: What you do in one satge affects other stages, potentially locking or unlocking hidden areas, new areas, and different enemies.
Random Stage System: Each time you play, the map of a level changes. Also, it's said that several old bosses (five, apparently) will reappear in X6.
Reploid System: Rescuing Reploids in the different levels gives you various powerups, which supposedly leads to a huge variety of powerups. To me, this sounds highly reminiscent of Mega Man 8; we'll see what happens.

So far, the only major pic/screenshot/whatever, aside from those taken from the preview video, is at UMMXZW, and it's from the E3 stuff. Also, no word yet on whether Sigma is back or not, but the basic premise is up at UMMXZW.

I found a link to This GameSpot Article about MegaMan X6. It says a little more about the storyline to X6.

Other info that I've read (indirectly) is from Zero X Pheonix, way out in LA at E3. Essentially, he reports that Capcom has tweaked the sprite for X a little, he can use the saber (but only a single slash), and that the Nightmare System, according to Capcom, is real. They say that there is at least one level which is never the same. Also, they're supposedly bringing back some of the more "popular" previous Mega Man X bosses; we'll just see who they pick. No word on Sigma or Zero yet. I'll continue to do the best I can to get the latest info out.

Here is the Capcom promotional info, quoted from their web page:

"Mega Man X and his trusty companion Zero were involved in a catastrophe. Now Zero is nowhere to be found! It’s up to Mega Man X to get to the bottom of the mystery and locate his faithful companion. But it’s not going to be easy. Mega Man X must battle through a maze of levels to find his cyborg pal and rescue reploids along the way. Return to battle with the new Nightmare System, which randomizes level maps, enemies and endings based on how you play the game. Mega Man X is back and now it’s personal!"
